Girls second and boys third at Evansville cross country Regional

October 22, 2023 - Columbus North will advance both the girls and boys cross country teams to next weekend’s State Championships in Terre Haute after second- and third-place finishes, respectively, at the Evansville Regional on Saturday (Oct 21). The girls team scored 94 team points to finish 24 points behind Bloomington South in the team competition. The girls grabbed three of the top 20 individual positions, led by Cary Glyn Jones’ fifth-place finish in 19:01.9. Junior Kyleigh Wolf finished ninth overall, and sophomore Ainsley Sherlock finished eighteenth. In the boys division, the Bull Dogs’ 101 points were good enough for a third-place finish behind Bloomington North (88) and Floyd Central (94). North was led by junior Neal White, who finished in twelfth place overall (15:49.7). Akot Tong finished 17th, and Jace Works came in 19th place for the Bull Dogs. The IHSAA State Finals will be held at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country course in Terre Haute on Saturday, October 28. The boys race will begin at 12:00 noon, with the girls to follow at 2:30.
