April 26, 2024 - After a 5-1 start to the season, the Columbus North softball team has run into a rough patch, dropping their last four contests, including a 9-1 loss to Indy Homeschool on Thursday evening at Southside. The Dogs were originally scheduled to play Perry Meridian on Thursday, but they were forced to back out to make up a conference game. Bailee Scruggs pitched the first three-and-one-third innings for North (5-5), giving up five runs on five hits while striking out five and walking two. She then passed the ball to Kelsey Lovelace to finish the game. Lovelace gave up four unearned runs on three hits. She struck out a pair of Marlins while walking none. North’s struggle at the plate continued Thursday night as they scored only one run for the third consecutive game. The Dogs were only able to muster four hits; one each by Miley McClellan and Scruggs, and two, including a double, by Summer Williiams. McClellan scored the only run for the Bull Dogs and she scored on Scruggs’ single. The Bull Dogs will compete in the Franklin Central Invitational on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 10:00 am. They will play Franklin Community, McCutcheon, and Franklin Central at 10:00, 12:45, and 2:45, respectively.
