May 5, 2024 - The Bull Dogs dropped to 3-1 in Conference Indiana play (7-9 overall) with a 12-5 loss at Terre Haute North on Friday evening. The Patriots exploded for six runs in the bottom of the first inning and built a 9-2 lead after four innings to hand the Dogs their ninth loss in eleven games after a 5-1 start to the season. Payton Morris got the start in the pitcher’s circle, but had a rough outing, allowing six runs on four hits and walking two before handing the ball to Bailee Scruggs in relief. Scruggs then threw the remainder of the game, allowing six runs (only one earned) on five hits. She struck out three and walked only one. The Dogs recorded eleven hits for the game, with five different batters (Kelsey Lovelace, Morris, Scruggs, Miley McClellan, and Summer Williams) each recording two hits. Scruggs and McClellan (shown) each had doubles for North. Five errors in the field doomed the Bull Dogs as they actually out-hit the Patriots 11-9 in the seven-run loss. The Dogs will host Brownstown Central Monday afternoon and will honor the program’s only senior, Lovelace as part of Senior Night. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 pm. The varsity game will be immediately followed by JV innings between the two teams.
