May 7, 2024 - The Columbus North softball roster lists only one senior, but that senior made the most of her Senior Night by hitting a two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning to help the Bull Dogs knock off Brownstown Central 5-3 in non-conference softball action on Monday evening. Kelsey Lovelace was honored prior to the first pitch and then had a game to remember. She walked twice and her homerun helped add to a 3-1 Bull Dog lead. They would need all of the runs they could muster as the Braves rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh inning. Payton Morris pitched the first six innings, allowing only four hits and one run while striking out ten. Her triple in the bottom of the fifth inning scored Lovelace as the Dogs overcame a 1-0 deficit with three runs in the inning. Bailee Scruggs then pitched the seventh inning and overcame some defensive miscues to earn the save. The Bull Dogs, now 8-9 will host a key Conference Indiana matchup with Bloomington South on Tuesday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
