JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – Senior Brice McDaniel went 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI on Saturday (April 16), sparking the Columbus North baseball team to a 5-2 victory over Terre Haute North and the title of a three-game round-robin event at Jeffersonville.
Sophomore Tyler Finke added two hits for the Bull Dogs (8-3), who opened the day with a 12-0 triumph over the host Red Devils.
Senior Collin Lollar plus juniors Wade Rankin and Nolan Wetherald also contributed one hit apiece in support of junior pitcher Nathan VanDeventer, who allowed two runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts and four walks.
Senior T.J. Collett, senior Aric Wisbey and senior Logan Fenimore each had two hits for the Patriots.
Earlier, senior Canaan Baum went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Lollar allowed just three hits over five innings as Columbus North defeated Jeffersonville 12-0.
Rankin went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Lollar doubled in two runs. McDaniel added two doubles and an RBI, while Wetherald went 2-for-2.
Lollar struck out 10 and walked two, while freshman Jakob Meyer added one shutout inning.
In the day’s final game, Jeffersonville defeated Terre Haute North 5-1. The Red Devils finished the day with a 7-1 record, while the Patriots closed the day at 4-4.
Columbus North is back in action at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday (April 19) when it visits Franklin Central for a Conference Indiana East Division game. The Bull Dogs follow by hosting Jennings County at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (April 21).
