COLUMBUS, Ind. – Senior Craig Yoho smacked a three-run home run to key a five-run fourth inning Monday (May 14), lifting the Fishers baseball team to a 7-3 victory over Columbus North at Southside Elementary School.
Yoho also had a double and senior Kiel Brenczewski added another double for the Tigers, who overcame a 3-2 deficit to improve to 20-7 for the season.
Senior Tyler Finke notched two hits and two stolen bases for the Bull Dogs, who dropped to 15-9. Freshman Austin Bode contributed a double, while sophomore Grant Trinkle, freshman Kyler McIntosh and sophomore Casper Clark each had a single.
Fishers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but Columbus North drew even in the bottom of the frame. The Bull Dogs went ahead 3-2 in the second inning, but the Tigers countered with their five-run burst in the fourth and CN was unable to recover.
Sophomore Mason Thomas picked up the victory after allowing four hits while striking out two and walking two over five innings. Seniors Griffin Rhoads and Alex Klotz each pitched one inning.
Junior Jakob Meyer was charged with the setback for Columbus North.
In the JV game in Fishers, the Tigers scored once in the first, once in the third and three times in the fifth to post a 5-1 triumph. Freshman Aaron Rork doubles, while freshman Blake Stevens, sophomore Pedro Munoz, junior Konner Stahl and freshman Caden Carpenter each had a single for the Bull Dogs (10-9).
The Bull Dogs’ JV is back in action at 5 p.m. Wednesday (May 16) when it visits Hauser. The Columbus North varsity visits Lawrence Central at 5:30 p.m. Friday (May 18), and the JV hosts Lawrence Central at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
