INDIANAPOLIS – Columbus North senior Madelyn Sanders and sophomore Eva Chevalier defeated Lafayette Central Catholic seniors Lizzie Cramer and Sami Royer 6-2, 6-1 on Friday (June 8) in the quarterfinal round of the IHSAA girls tennis doubles State Finals at Park Tudor.
The decision moves the Bull Dogs duo into a semifinal match against Columbus East junior Megna Chari and sophomore Kathyryn Hodzen at 10 a.m. Saturday (June 9).
Sanders and Chevalier enter the match at 18-1 as a tandem. Chari and Hodsen are 14-0 after they knocked off Concord junior Keegan Thursby and sophomore Meaghan Godrisz 6-4, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.
Cathedral junior Claire Koscielski and sophomore Meg Coleman (26-0) received a bye into the other semifinal. They will face Zionsville senior Anna Campbell and sophomore Lauren Campbell (22-3), who advanced with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Penn junior Ali Kumfer and senior Alexis Snelson in the third quarterfinal match.
In the singles quarterfinal, Muncie Burris sophomore Isabelle Behrman beat Bloomington South sophomore Maya Mills 6-1, 6-1 and Marquette Catholic freshman Rose Pastoret topped Park Tudor freshman Caroline Kittle 6-3, 6-2.
Behrman will meet Providence junior Halli Trinkle and Pastoret will play South Bend St. Joseph senior Madelyn Yergler in the singles semifinal matches.
