Columbus North, East Central play to 1-1 draw in boys soccer

                ST. LEON, Ind. – Junior Graham Keele scored on a rebound shot in the 37th minute Monday (Sept. 10) to help the Columbus North boys soccer team to a 1-1 draw at East Central.

                The Bull Dogs moved to 3-6-1 with the decision, while the Trojans saw their mark go to 7-1-1.

                Keele’s goal gave the visitors a lead, but sophomore Brady Spangler scored for East Central off a feed from senior Jared Tiemann in the 40th minute for a 1-1 deadlock at intermission.

                Senior Noah Kestler played the full 80 minutes in goal for the Bull Dogs, making five saves.

                Keele finished with two shots on goal, while senior Fabio Navarro, sophomore Kurt Nusterer and senior Zach Friend had one apiece.

                In the JV game, sophomore Gustavo Lopez and freshman Goumaro Guzman each scored to lift the Bull Dogs to a 2-1 victory. Lopez scored in the 49th minute and Guzman extended the lead to 2-0 in the 59th minute before East Central countered with a goal in the 64th minute. Sophomore Jared Marquez, sophomore Colvin Iorio and freshman Wyatt Kuehner divided time in goal for Columbus North (3-4-1).

                The Bull Dogs return to action on Thursday (Sept. 13) when they face Perry Meridian at Mary Bryan Elementary School in Indianapolis. The JV game begins at 6 p.m. and the varsity follows about 7:30 p.m.
