COLUMBUS, Ind. – Senior Jenna Riley pounded down 14 kills Tuesday evening (Sept. 11) to lead the Franklin Central volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Columbus North in Memorial Gym.
Junior Emily Jarrell added seven kills, while sophomores Brooklyn Schiffli and Caroline Hibbard each had five kills as the Flashes improved to 12-2 for the season with the 25-18, 25-13, 25-20 decision.
Junior Emma Mahoney pin-pointed five service aces, while junior Vannah Vaughan had three aces.
Sophomore Carly Sobieralski tallied 32 assists and 17 digs, while junior Dayton Thompson provided 18 digs and Schiffli also had 17 digs.
Junior Emma Tynan paced Columbus North (5-6) with six kills and six digs. Senior Agustina Fainguersch added three kills, six digs and two blocks, while junior Gabby Genth had three kills and three blocks and senior Lauryn James notched three kills and three blocks.
Senior Maddy Sebahar totaled 17 digs, while senior Sophie McKinney tallied nine assists and one ace. Junior Carley Finke and senior Lily Meyercord each had six digs and one ace.
The teams split the sub-varsity matches.
The Bull Dogs claimed a 25-15, 25-13 triumph in the JV contest to improve to 7-3 at that level.
In the freshman match, the Flashes rallied to take an 11-25, 25-15, 18-16 triumph. Sydney Donica tallied three kills and four aces for the Bull Dogs (2-7). Grace Whaley and Paige Osbourne also had three kills apiece, while Emma Martin totaled 13 assists.
Columbus North returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 13) when it visits Brownstown Central. JV and freshman matches begin at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows the JV at about 7 p.m. The varsity competes in the Ultra Ankle Challenge at New Albany at 9 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 15), and the JV takes part in the Roncalli Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 15).
