BROWNSTOWN, Ind. – Junior Keeli Darlage pounded 17 kills on Thursday evening (Sept. 13), leading the Brownstown Central volleyball team to a 3-0 triumph over Columbus North.
Junior Addie Wilkerson and sophomore Kendra McCory each added 10 kills for the host Braves, who improved to 17-2 for the season with the 25-10, 25-14, 25-15 decision.
Junior Emma Tynan paced the Bull Dogs (5-7) with seven kills. Seniors Agustina Fainguersch and Lauryn James each provided six kills, while senior Lily Meyercord had nine assists. Defensively, James had three blocks, junior Gabby Genth had two blocks and senior Maddy Sebahar notched 14 digs.
Brownstown also swept the sub-varsity matches.
At the JV level, the Braves prevailed 25-13, 25-20. Freshman Sarah Bennett led Columbus North (7-4) with six kills, while freshman Reagan Kane had 11 assists and one service ace.
In the freshman match, Brownstown won 25-11, 25-8. Delaney Roxbury tallied five kills and three blocks for the Bull Dogs (2-8).
The Columbus North varsity returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 15) in the Ultra Ankle Challenge at New Albany. The Bull Dogs face host New Albany at 9 a.m., Brownstown Central at noon and Jeffersonville at 1 p.m. CN also will play either Floyd Central, Silver Creek, Castle or Jasper in a cross-pool match at either 3 p.m. or 4 p.m.
The Bull Dogs’ JV is back in action Saturday (Sept. 14) in the Roncalli Invitational. CN meets host Roncalli at 9 a.m., Brownstown Central at 10 a.m. and Seymour at 11 a.m. in the four-team round-robin event.
The Columbus North freshman team is off until Sept. 27 when it plays Columbus East as part of a varsity-JV-freshman tripleheader at Columbus North.
