Nusterer, Keele lift Columbus North boys soccer past Perry Meridian 2-1

                INDIANAPOLIS – Sophomore Kurt Nusterer and junior Graham Keele each scored second-half goals Thursday evening (Sept. 13), propelling the Columbus North boys soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Perry Meridian at Mary Bryan Elementary School.

                Junior Ben Malone assisted on Nusterer’s goal in the 62nd minute, while senior Ernesto Perez fed Keele in the 65th minute as the Bull Dogs improved to 4-6-1. The host Falcons (3-7-1) countered with a penalty-kick goal by Van Biak Hlun in the 75th minute.

                CN senior Noah Kestler played 80 minute in the nets, making seven saves.

                In the JV game, the host Falcons took a 2-1 decision. Sophomore Mauricio Brito-Zavala scored off an assist from sophomore Jorge Avila for Columbus North. Sophomores Jared Marquez and Colvin Iorio each played one half in goal for the Bull Dogs (3-5-0).

                Columbus North returns to action Saturday (Sept. 15) when it hosts Terre Haute North at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex in a Conference Indiana match. The JV game begins at 11 a.m., and the varsity follows about 12:30 p.m.
