Bull Dogs use balance to beat Greenwood 59-29 in girls basketball

                COLUMBUS, Ind. – Junior Annie Anderson, sophomore Alexa McKinley and freshman Kylah Lawson each scored 10 points Tuesday evening (Dec. 4) to lead the Columbus North girls basketball team to a 59-29 victory over Greenwood in Memorial Gym.

                Junior Sierra Norman contributed nine points and sophomore Madison White added five points as the Bull Dogs used a balanced effort to improve to 5-3. CN played 11 players, and all 11 scored.

                Freshman Anna Pritchett scored seven points to lead the Woodmen (2-7). Senior Bailey Taft chipped in six points, while senior Sarah DeCastro and junior Ashley Buster each had five points.

                McKinley and Lawson each scored four points in the first quarter as Columbus North took a 13-11 lead. Norman netted six points and Lawson had four points in the second quarter as CN pushed its advantage to 27-19 at intermission.

                Anderson scored five points and White had three points in the third quarter as the Bull Dogs led 38-23 heading into the final period. Ten CN players scored in the fourth quarter as the hosts closed out the decision.

                At the JV level, White scored 12 points as the Bull Dogs prevailed 56-16. Junior Riley Eder and sophomore Hannah Bramlett each added eight points, while sophomore Kanon Matsuno chipped in seven points as CN improved to 7-1. Sophomores Emily Herndon and Annaleigh Matzar tallied six points apiece. Freshman Maura Guilfoy and sophomore Ayesha Campbell scored five points each to lead Greenwood.

                There was no freshman game.

                Columbus North returns to action on Thursday (Dec. 6) when it has a home tripleheader – the varsity and JV facing East Central and the freshman team playing Whiteland. JV and freshman games begin at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows the JV at about 7:30 p.m.
