Columbus North uses balanced offense to top Perry Meridian 49-42 in girls basketball

                INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Nadia Lomax scored 12 points to pace a balanced offense on Saturday (Jan. 5), keying the Columbus North girls basketball team to a 49-42 victory at Perry Meridian.

                Sophomore Alexa McKinley added 11 points and junior Annie Anderson tallied 10 points for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 14-4 for the season. Sophomore Madison White chipped in eight points, while juniors Tessa Lomax and Sierra Norman each contributed four points.

                Senior Caitie Baird scored 13 points and senior Ariana Booker had 10 points to lead the host Falcons (8-10).

                Anderson scored five points while White and Nadia Lomax each had three points as Columbus North took a 13-9 lead in the first quarter. Anderson and McKinley each scored five points in the second quarter as the Bull Dogs pushed their edge to 24-14 at intermission.

                White and Nadia Lomax each scored five points as CN made it 39-27 at the third stop. Nadia Lomax scored four points, including two late free throws when the Falcons had rallied to challenge, and McKinley and Norman each had three points as the visitors held on to prevail.

                In the JV game, sophomore Emily Herndon scored 14 points as the Bull Dogs claimed a 42-17 victory. White and sophomore Kanon Matsuno each contributed six points for the Bull Dogs (14-1). Sophomores Hannah Bramlett and Annaleigh Matzar provided five points apiece. Freshman Ella Scaringe scored nine points to pace Perry Meridian.

                There was no freshman game.

                The Columbus North freshman play at 5:30 p.m. Monday (Jan. 7) at South Decatur in a stand-alone game. The CN freshmen also play at 7:15 p.m. Friday (Jan. 11) at home against Mooresville.

                The Bull Dogs travel to Bloomington South on Saturday (Jan. 12) for a Conference Indiana tripleheader. JV and freshman games are set for 1 p.m. The varsity follows the JV at about 2:30 p.m.
