Columbus North places seventh in IHSAA unified track State Finals

                BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Columbus North unified track team placed seventh on Saturday (June 1) in the IHSAA State Finals.

                Valparaiso won the meet at Indiana University's Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex with 124 points. Bedford North Lawrence placed second with 109 points followed by Elkhart Memorial with 101, McCutcheon with 96, Penn with 95, Fishers with 90 and Columbus North with 83.

                Jennings County was eighth with 79 points followed by New Albany with 78, Bloomington North with 77, Jasper with 71 and Carroll (Fort Wayne) with 67 to complete the 12-school field.

                Freshman Trent Bodart paced the effort by the Bull Dogs with a pair of first-place finishes. He was first in his flight of the long jump at 15-10½ and first in his section of the 400 in 1:04.95.

                Both Columbus North relays placed fourth in their respective sections. Senior Grace Williams, junior Kennedy Engelau, sophomore Alana Cook and sophomore Kate Kolhouse posted a time of 1:10.09 in the girls’ 4x100. Freshman Jackson Eaken, sophomore Trevor Wright, junior Dalton Kirk and sophomore Reed Duncan combined to go 57.80 in the boys’ 4x100.

                Other individual results for the Bull Dogs included:

                >> Cook, second in her section of the 100 in 15.75.

                >> Eaken, second in his flight of the long jump at 10-7.

                >> Sophomore Max Wilson, second in his section of the 400 in 56.16 and fifth in his flight of the long jump in 17-2.

                >> Kolhouse, fifth in her flight of the 100 in 15.15.

                >> Kirk, sixth in his flight of the shot put in 39-10¾.

                >> Senior Cassidy Satterfield, sixth in her flight of the 100 in 20.92 and eighth in her section of the 400 in 2:19.34.  

                >> Duncan, seventh in his section of the 100 in 12.75.

                >> Wright, eighth in his flight of the shot put in 38-7¼.

                >> Senior Randall Watts, eighth in his section of the 400 in 1:16.37.

                >> Engelau, eighth in her flight of the shot put in 18-7.

                >> Senior Ryan Farrell, second in his flight of the shot put in 18-6 and eighth in his flight of the long jump at 2-4.

                Columbus North was in the IHSAA unified track State Finals for the third consecutive year. The Bull Dogs tied for fifth place in 2017, and they placed third in 2018.
