Columbus North recent graduate Parker Maddox has been named to the South Team for the North-South All-Star Baseball Series that is sponsored by the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association.
The series will be this weekend with three nine-inning games at Gary O’Neal Field in Madison, Ind. The series is for top seniors from the recently completed season.
Players report Friday (June 21) for a workout, photos and a banquet, where Indiana University coach Jeff Mercer will be the keynote speaker. There will be a doubleheader on Saturday (June 22) with games at noon and 3:45 p.m. The final game of the series, using wood bats only, will be at noon Sunday (June 23).
Maddox, a pitcher, compiled a 6-1 record with one save for Columbus North in the 2019 season. The Ohio University recruit struck out 51 batters and walked just 19 with a 1.37 earned-run average in 41.0 innings. The Bull Dogs went 22-8 for the season.
Maddox earlier was chosen IHSBCA all-district and first-team all-Conference Indiana. He also was honored as the Bull Dogs’ co-most valuable pitcher for 2019.
Previous Columbus North participants in the IHSBCA All-Star Series include Teal Murphy in 2005, Jon Clarence in 2007, Cooper Trinkle and Kevin Thompson in 2017, and Tyler Finke in 2018. The All-Star series started in 1975.
