3 boys, 4 girls receive all-state honors in cross country from IATCCC

                Sophomore Matt Newell and six other Columbus North athletes received all-state recognition in cross country from the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches.

                Those cited as honorable mention all-state were sophomore Reese Kilbarger-Stumpff, junior Andy Stohr, senior Olivia Morlok, freshman Brianna Newell, freshman Lily Baker and junior Mackenzie Barnett.

                Matt Newell was named first-team all-state in boys cross country after placing 14th in the IHSAA State Finals on Nov. 2 with a time of 15:56.8 over 5,000 meters and leading the CN boys to a fourth-place team finish. Stohr placed 26th individually in 16:15.5 and Stohr finished 47th in 16:26.1.

                For the CN girls, who finished fifth in state as a team, Morlok led the group by placing 33rd individually in 19:05.0. Also, Brianna Newell finished 36th in 19:06.2, Baker was 42nd in 19:10.5 and Barnett placed 44th in 19:10.7.
