NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – Columbus North rising senior Nathaly Munnicha won the championship of the Indiana Girls Junior PGA Championship on Thursday (June 4) at Harbour Trees Golf Club.
Munnicha shot a 72-74–146 over two days to capture the event by four strokes over Mallory Russell and Cybill Stillson. Russell is a recent graduate of Evansville Memorial. Stillson is a rising junior from NorthWood.
Carmel rising senior Katelyn Kuc placed fourth in a 58-player field with a 155. Bishop Chatard recent graduate Maggie Schaffer and Zionsville recent graduate Abby Thielbar shared fifth place at 156, while Evansville North recent graduate Abby Whittington was seventh at 157.
Five players tied for eighth place with 158s – Evansville North rising junior Reagan Sohn, Muncie Central rising senior Teddi Bishop, Guerin Catholic recent graduate Angelica Pfefferkorn, Homestead rising junior Madison Dabagia and Guerin Catholic rising junior Christina Pfefferkorn.
During the first round on Wednesday (June 3), Munnicha posted birdies on Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 10 with bogeys on Nos. 4, 9, 12, 13 and 15 for a 1-over-par 72. In the second round, she birdied Nos. 9 and 16, bogeyed Nos. 10, 13 and 17 and double-bogeyed No. 14 for a 3-over 74.
Munnicha looks to lead the Columbus North team in the 2020 season. She has committed to attend Xavier University starting in the 2021-22 school year.
