Lang, Chenanda, Gilley and Whitley collect ISCA All-State accolades in girls soccer

Columbus North junior Jenna Lang was named first-team all-state on Sunday (Nov. 15) by the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association.

Lang was joined by three teammates – junior Nitya Chenanda, sophomore Mallory Gilley and senior Lauryn Whitley – in receiving state-level recognition from the ISCA. Chenanda and Gilley each was selected third-team all-state, while Whitley was chosen honorable mention all-state.

Lang set a school record with 99 points on a school record 44 goals and 11 assists in leading Columbus North to an 18-2-1 season that included Conference Indiana, sectional and regional championships in 2020. Lang also tied a school record with six goals in one game against Franklin, and her season total was exactly half of the team’s 88 goals.

Through three seasons, Lang has 214 career points on 99 goals and 16 assists and she now is a three-time ISCA first-team all-state honoree. Her first-team selection this season is the 12th time a Columbus North player received such an honor. Those named first-team all-state in the past were Lindsey Fox in 2005; Sarah Dozier in 2008; Kayleigh Steigerwalt in 2010 and 2011; Morgan Proffitt in 2010, 2011 and 2012; Kenadie Carlson in 2013; Addie Lang in 2016; and Jenna Lang herself in 2018 and 2019.

Chenanda was an anchor for a defense that allowed just 15 goals in 21 games while recording 10 shutouts for the season. She also scored one goal from her back-line position. Chenanda previously was named ISCA honorable mention all-state as a sophomore.

Gilley earned accolades after posting a 0.79 goals against average and posting eight shutouts while playing 1,504 minutes over 20 games as the team’s top goalkeeper.

Whitley was feted after totaling 35 points on six goals and a school-record 23 assists. For her career, she totaled 86 points on 17 goals and school-record 52 assists. Whitley set a school record with five assists in a game against Whiteland as a junior.

All four players previously were named ISCA first-team all-District 4.
