The Columbus North boys’ basketball team will face Bloomington North in the first round of the Bloomington South Sectional on Tuesday, March 2, according to pairings announced Sunday (Feb. 21) by the Indiana High School Athletic Association.
The Bull Dogs (11-4) and the Cougars (11-2) will play in the second game of the evening. Host Bloomington South (18-4) and East Central (12-9) will play in the opening first-round game at 6 p.m.
The Bloomington South-East Central winner will meet Martinsville (3-17) in the first semifinal game at 6 p.m. Friday, March 5. The Columbus North-Bloomington North winner will face Columbus East (1-16) in the second semifinal on Feb. 5.
The two semifinal winners will play for the sectional championship on Saturday, March 6.
Sectional tickets are $6 per session, and further ticket limitations will be announced.
The sectional winner will advance to the Seymour Regional on March 13. Winners from the Bloomington South and Seymour sectionals will play in the first game at 10 a.m. Winners from the Whiteland and Evansville North sectionals will meet in the second regional semifinal. The regional final will be at 8 p.m. on March 13.
The regional champion qualifies for the semi-state, which will be played on March 20 at either Seymour or Washington. The site and time of the semi-state will be announced on March 14.
The semi-state winner advances to the IHSAA boys basketball State Finals on April 3 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Class 4A title game is set for 8:30 p.m.
Bloomington South is the six-time defending sectional champion.
