Bull Dogs baseball ends 17-game winning streak with 4-0 loss to Trinity (KY)

May 1, 2021 - In a matchup of top-ranked teams, Kentucky’s Trinity High School Shamrocks took advantage of some Bull Dog defensive miscues and excellent pitching to beat the host Bull Dogs 4-0.

The class 4A top-ranked Bull Dogs struggled at the plate, collecting only three hits (Zach Wager, Will Baker, and Blake Huffman) and striking out five times.  While the Dogs did manage to hit the ball hard, too many fly-ball outs kept them off the base paths through most of the game.

Kyler McIntosh started the game on the mound for the Bull Dogs and pitched five innings while giving up three runs on eight hits. He walked one and struck out two.  Wager then came in to begin the sixth inning as McIntosh moved to shortstop.  Wager gave up a run on two hits while walking two and striking out two Shamrocks.  The Bull Dogs committed only one defensive error, but they had a number of other missed opportunities to force outs, giving new life to the Shamrock batters.

Trinity pounded out ten hits for the game, including four batters with multiple hits.  Trinity’s pitcher, Colin Murphy, pitched a complete game three-hitter, striking out five and walking none in his shutout victory.

The Bull Dogs will look to regroup as they travel to Noblesville Tuesday evening to take on the 6-11 Millers.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
