Softball sweeps doubleheader at Silver Creek

 

     May 1, 2021 - The Columbus North varsity softball team traveled to Silver Creek for an afternoon doubleheader and came away with two wins, 11-0 and 5-1, running their season record to 12-4.

     In game one, Maddi Rutan pitched a one-hit, five-inning shutout, striking out twelve and walking just one. She also helped herself at the plate with a solo home run.  The Bull Dogs pounded out 10 hits, including two by Josie Lemmons and two by Kirsten Danford. Danford, Emalee Heafner, and Lillian Mackey each had two RBI for the victorious Dogs.

     In the second game, Junior Peri Faust got the nod as the starting pitcher and gave up only three hits and one unearned run while striking out nine.  Senior Aden Voss was 2-for-2 from the plate and scored a run. Classmate Meghan Waggoner had a homerun for CN in the 5-1 win.

     Next up for the Bull Dogs will be a short road trip to Edinburgh on Monday, May 3.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm.  The Dogs will next be at home on Thursday, May 6 against the Woodmen from Greenwood High School.
