June 5, 2021 - The Columbus North girl Track and Field team completed their 2021 season with a 22nd place finish at the Indiana State Track and Field Championships, held at Ben Davis High School. Their 13 team points tied them for 22nd position with Edgewood and Park Tudor. Indianapolis Cathedral (39 points) won the team title by just one point over Warren Central High School.
The Bull Dogs’ best finish came from their 4x800m Relay team of Brianna Newell, Lily Baker, Mackenzie Barnett, and Julie Klaus, who finished third in a school-record time of 9:16.73. Emily Herndon placed fourth in the Shot Put (42-10.25) and 22nd in the Discus (109-03). Barnett had a twelfth-place finish in the 3200m (11:01.16), an event she ran with teammate Katherine Rumsey, who finished in 22nd place (11:44.08). Newell and Baker also competed in individual events, with Newell finishing 19th in the 1600m (5:18.63) and Baker finishing 20th in the 800m (2:21.68). Finally, the 4x400m Relay team of Jessica Meza, Olivia Johnson, Helen Alderfer, and Emma Long finished 27th in 4:13.47.
