Girls and boys cross country teams each win Sectional Championship

 

     October 10, 2021 - The state’s top-ranked Columbus North boys and girls cross country easily outdistanced themselves from runners-up Seymour to win the Sectional Cross Country Championships in Brown County on Saturday, October 9.

     In the girls’ competition, Bull Dogs’ runners finished second (Ellen White in 19:42.00), third (Jessica Meza, 20:16.50), seventh (Nicole Meza, 20:37.60), tenth (Sierra Newell, 20:50.40), 13th (Charley Kerber, 21:26.30), 16th (Emily Titus, 21:41.80), and 18th (Claire Wisler, 21:48.60) to secure the team competition.

     In the boys’ race, Kellen Hottell finished third overall in 17:02.70, followed by Aidan Jeffares (fourth in 17:08.40), Akot Tong (fifth in 17:11.40), Neal White (seventh in 17:17.60), Sam Hobbeheydar (eighth in 17:18.70), Charlie Smith (tenth in 17:28.00), and Adam Reckers (eleventh in 17:37.60).

     Both teams will try to defend their Regional titles next Saturday, October 16 at Ceraland (10:30 am).  Admission will be $5 per person.  The top five teams (and top 10 individuals from non-advancing teams) will advance to the semi-state championship.
