Balanced Bull Dogs defeat Jennings County 60-35 in girls basketball

                COLUMBUS, Ind. – Senior Liz Tynan scored 12 points and classmate Kenzie Patberg added 11 points Tuesday evening (Jan. 2), leading the Columbus North girls basketball team to a 60-35 victory over Jennings County in Memorial Gym.

                Freshman Alexa McKinley chipped in eight points and senior Jenna Borger tallied seven points for the Bull Dogs, who used a balanced attack to improve to 12-4. Sophomores Annie Anderson and Tessa Lomax each provided six points, while junior Nadia Lomax and senior Kelsey Patberg netted four points apiece.

                Senior Kat Norman, in her first action of the season after a summer knee injury, had two points.

                Junior Callie Wilder scored a game-high 14 points for the Panthers (3-12). Freshman Addyson Kent contributed eight points, and senior Macy Roth had five points.

                Tynan and Borger each scored five points in the first quarter as CN took an 18-12 lead. Tynan tallied four points in the second quarter as the Bull Dogs led 30-24 at intermission. Kenzie Patberg scored five points in the third quarter as the hosts pushed the count to 43-29. Tessa Lomax scored six points, while McKinley and Nadia Lomax each scored four points in the final period as CN closed out the decision.

                In the JV game, sophomore Sierra Norman, sophomore Kaylyn Bates and freshman Hannah Bramlett each scored 12 points to lift the Bull Dogs to a 59-19 triumph. Freshman Kanon Matsuno chipped in nine points, while sophomore Riley Eder netted seven points and sophomore Brooke Bruin had five points for CN (12-1). Freshman Tori Lee led Jennings County with six points.

                Columbus North returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 6) when it hosts Perry Meridian in a Conference Indiana doubleheader on “Camp Reunion Day.” The JV game begins at 1 p.m., and the varsity follows at about 2:30 p.m. Players who attended the Columbus North girls’ basketball camp last June will be admitted for no charge by wearing their 2017 camp T-shirt.
