Norman scores 15 points as Columbus North tops Southport 59-45 in girls basketball

                COLUMBUS, Ind. – Junior Sierra Norman came off the bench to score 15 points on Tuesday evening (Nov. 13) to lead the Columbus North girls basketball team to a 59-45 victory over Southport in Memorial Gym.

                Senior Nadia Lomax added 13 points and sophomore Alexa McKinley chipped in eight points for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 2-1 overall and claimed their Conference Indiana opener. Junior Tessa Lomax and freshman Kylah Lawson each contributed seven points, and junior Annie Anderson had five points.

                Junior Lexie Green paced the Cardinals (1-5, 0-1) with 10 points. Senior Ashley Raisor tallied eight points, and junior Brynna Reynolds netted six points.

                Nadia Lomax scored four points and McKinley and Anderson each had three points as CN took a 14-8 lead in the first quarter. Norman scored seven points and Lawson added four points as the Bull Dogs pushed their advantage to 32-23 at intermission.

                Nadia Lomax hit a 3-pointer and four others each netted two points as the hosts took a 43-32 lead at the third stop. Norman and Nadia Lomax each scored four points while McKinley and Tessa Lomax each had three points in the final period as CN closed out the decision.

                The Bull Dogs also prevailed in both sub-varsity contests.

                Sophomore Madison White scored 14 points to pace three players in double figures as Columbus North (2-1) claimed a 58-36 victory in the JV game. Sophomore Emily Herndon added 13 points and sophomore Kanon Matsuno chipped in 10 points for the winners. Junior Bella Green scored 12 points and freshman Haley Ancelet had 10 points for Southport (3-3).

                In the freshman game, Stella West tallied 10 points as the Bull Dogs captured a 30-19 triumph in their season opener. Sophie Nash and Layla Terry each contributed seven points, while Paige Osbourne, Harleigh Lowe and Anna Jackson provided two points apiece. Taleah Nool led the Cardinals with 10 points.

                Columbus North returns to action next Tuesday (Nov. 20) when it hosts Franklin Central in a tripleheader. JV and freshman games each begin at 6 p.m. The varsity follows the JV at about 7:30 p.m.
