Barker, Schiavello are hot in All-Area All-Star hoops game; Anderson, McKinley, N. Lomax help White win girls' game

                COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus North guards Blake Barker and Nicholas Schiavello combined for 48 points Monday evening (March 25), but it was not enough as the White team defeated the Red team 85-79 in the South Central All-Area All-Star boys’ basketball game at Columbus Christian.

                Barker poured in a game-high 26 points while Schiavello added 22 points for the Red in the annual boy-girl doubleheader with proceeds this year benefiting Erin Newcomb, a Hauser student who was seriously injured in a car crash last August. South Decatur’s Lane Lauderbaugh added 13 points and Edinburgh’s Jordan Myers chipped in nine points for the Red.

                Hauser’s Jackson Paradise scored 18 points to pace four players in double figures for the victorious White team. Columbus East’s Drew Johnson contributed 14 points, while Hauser’s Trey Johnson and Columbus East’s Carson Whitehead each scored 10 points.

                In the girls’ game, Columbus East’s Katie Daugherty scored 12 points and Columbus North’s Annie Anderson tallied 11 points to lift the White over the Red 71-45. Columbus East’s Claire Cunningham provided nine points, while South Decatur’s Madison Owens tallied eight points. CN’s Alexa McKinley scored five points and CN’s Nadia Lomax had four points.

                Columbus East’s Koryn Greiwe netted 21 points for the White team. Columbus North’s Sierra Norman chipped in nine points, while Edinburgh’s Haven Link tallied six points and Jennings County’s Lily Ernstes had four points. CN’s Tessa Lomax contributed three points.
