January 19, 2022 - Columbus North girls basketball dropped to 11-8 with a 54-34 loss at Silver Creek. The Dragons, now 18-1 had too much firepower for the Dogs as they tallied three players with double-digit scoring. The two teams combined for 33 first-quarter points, but could only muster 15 together in the second quarter as the host Dragons took a 29-19 advantage into the locker room. Silver Creek continued to pull away in the second half to secure the 20-point victory.
Kylah Lawson led the Bull Dogs in scoring with twelve points, and Lauren Barker chipped in nine for the Bull Dogs.
The JV girls improved to 16-2 with a 52-40 victory over the Dragons. Elise Preston had 17 points and Hadassah Hurt added 11 for the Bull Dogs. The freshmen game was canceled earlier in the week due to a lack of healthy players on Silver Creek’s squad. This ended the freshmen girls’ season with a 10-2 record.
The JV and varsity will try to close out undefeated Conference Indiana seasons as they travel to Bloomington North on Friday, January 21. JV will begin at 6:00, with varsity to follow.
