Two Columbus North football players have been selected to the all-Region 10 squad by the Indiana Football Coaches Association.
Senior quarterback Trenton Kelley and senior offensive lineman Noah Algee each was chosen to the honor unit as picked by a group of coaches representing 42 schools that compete in football in the region. Their selection makes them candidates for the 2019 Indiana North-South All-Star Classic that will be played July 12 at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
The 6-5, 205-pound Kelley passed for 1,772 yards and 16 touchdowns on 145-of-230 accuracy in leading the Bull Dogs to an 8-2 season that included a Conference Indiana championship at 5-0. He threw for 358 yards against Bloomington South, the second-best game in CN annals, and moved his career yardage to 4,017, the third-best total in CN history. Kelley also ran for 133 yards and three touchdowns as a senior.
Algee, a 6-1, 235-pound lineman, was a key blocker for a Bull Dogs’ offense that totaled 358.3 yards per game and 32.0 points per game.
Earlier, Kelley was voted team MVP, first-team all-Conference Indiana and Associated Press Class 6A honorable mention all-state. Algee was named winner of the team’s Tom Orr Award, which goes to a player with a passion beyond athletics. Both players were team captains in 2018.
Selections for the North-South All-Star game will be announced in early March.
