Five Columbus North High School seniors took part in a college-bound student-athlete ceremony on Friday (May 10) to finalize their commitments for college athletics and academics.
Henry Kiel, Drew Smith, Morgan Smith, John Sluys and Tay Wells participated in the ceremony in the lobby of the Bill Stearman Athletic Complex.
This was the third and final signing ceremony for the 2018-19 school year for athletes in the Class of 2019.
Kiel and Smith plan to play golf in college, Kiel at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne and Drew Smith at Hillsdale College in Michigan. Kiel leads the Columbus North team with a 74.62 average in eight 18-hole rounds this season. Drew Smith averages 77.67 in nine 18-hole rounds.
Kiel will join a USF program at the NAIA level that placed sixth in the Crossroads League Championship last month.
