Boys JV Football
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Sophomore Zac Horn threw for three touchdowns, sophomore Ian Calvert ran for three scores and sophomore Jacob McMullen had a pair of pick-six returns on Saturday (Oct. 10) to lead the Columbus North JV football team to a 49-26 victory at Bloomington North.
Sophomore Damon Edwards grabbed two touchdown receptions, while junior Elijah Foster had one TD catch as the Bull Dogs’ JV improved to 4-2 for the season.
The host Cougars struck first, but Calvert countered with a 4-yard touchdown run for a 6-6 tie at the end of the first quarter.
Columbus North dominated the second quarter, Horn and Edwards connecting for 56- and 23-yard touchdowns, Calvert adding a second 4-yard TD run and McMullen returning an interception 40 yards for a score.
Calvert pushed the Bull Dogs’ lead to 37-6 with a 3-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
Bloomington North rallied for two touchdowns early in the final period, but Horn hit Foster for a 70-yard score to make it 43-18. The Cougars mustered one more touchdown and a two-point conversion, but McMullen closed the scoring with his second pick-six of the game, this one covering 70 yards on the return.
Columbus North closes its JV schedule at 11 a.m. next Saturday (Oct. 17) when it hosts Terre Haute South at Max Andress Field.
