COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus North girls tennis rolled past Edinburgh 4-0 in a Columbus North Sectional semifinal on Thursday (May 16), although rain prevented the fifth match from being completed.
The Bull Dogs (18-4) advanced to meet Columbus East in the sectional final on Friday (May 17).
The Olympians led Hauser 3-0 in their semifinal match with two matches unfinished. One of those matches, at No. 1 doubles, will have to be completed at 4:30 p.m. Friday before the sectional title match.
In the CN-Edinburgh encounter, freshman Ashlie Wilson, junior Eva Chevalier and senior Shweta Srinivasan prevailed in singles matches. Wilson topped the Lancers’ Haley Jones 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Chevalier blanked Edinburgh’s Destiney Ramey 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Srinivasan beat the Lancers’ Sophia Parmer 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
At No. 1 doubles, junior Ali Bergman and sophomore Jaline Tay defeated Edinburgh’s Emily Chappelow and Haven Link 6-0, 6-0. At No. 2 doubles, senior Servane Cloteaux and freshman Tiffany Fu led the Lancers’ Katie Roberts and Bethany Burton 6-1, 4-0 when the match was stopped.
Columbus North is seeking its sixth consecutive sectional triumph and the program’s 35th sectional crown.
