Carmel tops Columbus North 5-0 in quarterfinals of IHSAA girls tennis State Finals

                CARMEL, Ind. – The Columbus North girls tennis team saw an outstanding season come to an end on Friday (May 31) when it dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 3 Carmel in the quarterfinal round of the IHSAA State Finals.

                Freshman Ashlie Wilson fell in split sets at No. 1 singles, while the tandem of senior Servane Cloteaux and freshman Tiffany Fu fought but were unable to pull though at No. 2 doubles.

                Carmel sophomore Sydney Morris outlasted Wilson 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, whle Carmel sophomore Katelyn Conley and senior Selena Liu topped Cloteaux and Fu 7-6 (6), 6-2.

                Carmel senior Apurva Manas and sophomore Emma Brune captured the other singles matches, while Greyhounds sophomore Leila Antony and freshman Lauren Littell prevailed in doubles.

                Manas beat CN junior Eva Chevalier 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, while Brune blanked Bull Dogs senior Shweta Srinivasan 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Antony and Littell topped CN junior Ali Bergman and sophomore Jaline Tay 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.

                The Bull Dogs close their season with a 22-5 record, and they tied for fifth place in the State Finals.

                In the other quarterfinal matches, Cathedral defeated Delta 5-0, Park Tudor edged Munster 3-2 and Center Grove beat Washington 5-0.

                In the semifinals at 10 a.m. Saturday (June 1) at North Central, it will be Cathedral vs. Carmel and Park Tudor vs. Center Grove. The semifinal winners will meet for the team state title at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

                Shweta Srinivasan: 16-9 overall (9-6 at No. 3 singles, 4-1 at No. 1 doubles, 3-2 at No. 2 doubles)
