Boys All Levels Tennis
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Senior Akshaya Sabapathy and the doubles tandem of senior Chris Ruble and sophomore Adam Saad prevailed on Tuesday (Sept. 19), but it was not enough as the Columbus North boys tennis team fell 3-2 at Greenwood.
Sabapathy topped Woodmen senior Grant Bryant 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, while Ruble and Saad defeated Greenwood freshmen Nick Belovic and Charlie Brooks 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
The Woodmen claimed the match behind triumphs from senior Jacob Gray at No. 1 singles, freshman Ethan Gray at No. 2 singles and the tandem of junior Jacob Rothaar and sophomore Ben Sobieray at No. 1 doubles.
Jacob Gray beat CN junior Kevin Lin 6-0, 6-1, while Ethan Gray posted a 6-3, 7-5 decision over Bull Dogs sophomore Joey Zhao. Rothaar and Sobieray topped CN seniors Isaac Jackson and Ben Mathew 6-2, 6-1.
At the JV level, Columbus North took an 8-0 decision.
Columbus North, now 11-2 in dual matches, returns to action at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 20) when it hosts Center Grove in the makeup of a Sept. 2 rainout. CN follows by hosting Bloomington North at 6 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 21).
