Maroon teams sweep All-Area All-Star basketball games; CN's Barker scores 19 in boys' game; Nadia Lomax, Anderson pace girls

                COLUMBUS, Ind. – Hauser’s Alex Gross scored 24 points to pace six players in double figures Monday evening (March 26), leading the Maroon boys team to a 96-81 victory over the Gold in the fourth annual South Central All-Area All-Star Game at Columbus Christian School.

                Columbus North’s Blake Barker contributed 19 points, and CN’s Bailey Hester, Hauser’s Andrew Titus and Hauser’s Justin Compton each provided 13 points for the Maroon squad in a contest that featured 29 3-point goals. Hauser’s Mason Sherman also chipped in 11 points for the winners.

                Jennings County’s Travis Wilson tallied a team-high 22 points for the Gold. Edinburgh’s Colton Henderson added 14 points, Columbus East’s Matthew Frost scored 13 points and Columbus East’s Thomas Myers had 11 points.

                The Gold led 41-34 at intermission, but the Maroon posted a 62-40 advantage over the final two quarters to claim the decision.

                In the girls’ game, Columbus North’s Nadia Lomax scored 13 points and CN teammate Annie Anderson netted 12 points to spark the Maroon to a 68-46 triumph.

                Columbus East’s Claire Cunningham added 10 points, while Columbus North’s Jenna Borger had seven points for the Maroon. Columbus North’s Tessa Lomax, Columbus East’s Whitley Rankin and Trinity Lutheran’s Abby Hackman each provided six points.

                Columbus East’s Addy Galarno scored 13 points and Jennings County’s Callie Wilder had 10 points to pace the Gold girls. Columbus East’s Britney Ballard and Kristen Lyons each chipped in six points.

                The Maroon took a 34-20 lead in the first half. It maintained a 47-34 advantage at the third stop, then outscored the Gold 21-12 in the final period for the final margin.
