Schiavello, Barker propel Columbus North past New Albany for third place in the Noblesville Holiday Invitational

                NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – Junior Nicholas Schiavello and sophomore Blake Barker each scored 25 points Friday evening (Dec. 28) to lift the Columbus North boys basketball team to a 64-61 victory over New Albany for third place in the Noblesville Holiday Invitational.

                Senior Trenton Kelley chipped in nine points and sophomore Reese Harmon tallied five points for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 7-4 for the season.

                Junior Julien Hunter scored 18 points and Landon Sprigler had 10 points to pace New Albany (5-4).

                Trailing 48-42 at the third stop, Schiavello scored 12 points while Barker netted seven points in the final eight minutes as the Bull Dogs pulled out the decision.

                Earlier, Xavier Hines scored 22 points and Alex Hunt had 12 points as Noblesville edged Columbus North 48-45 in a semifinal game. Schiavello scored 16 points, while Harmon tallied 10 points and Barker had nine points for CN.

                In other games in the event, Lawrence Central beat New Albany 65-52 in the second semifinal game, Northridge nipped Crown Point 54-52 for seventh place, Andrean defeated Chesterton 68-61 for fifth place and Lawrence Central topped Noblesville 60-51 for the championship.

                Lawrence Central is now 8-2, Noblesville is now 6-5, Andrean is now 5-4, Chesterton is now 8-2, Northridge is now 5-5 and Crown Point is now 5-4.

                Lawrence Central's Nigel Pack was named the event's most outstanding player. Others on the all-tourney team were Schiavello, Hunter, Lawrence Central's Dre Davis, Noblesville's Zack Johnson and Chesterton's Jake Wadding.
