Columbus North freshman girls basketball beats Brownstown Central 36-22

                BROWNSTOWN, Ind. – Harleigh Lowe and Sophie Nash each scored eight points Monday evening (Dec. 17) to lead the Columbus North freshman girls basketball team to a 36-22 over the Brownstown Central “C” team.

                Alivia Steinkoenig added six points and Stella West contributed five points for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 4-3. Paige Osbourne provided three points, while Layla Terry, Reagan Ables and Rion Stevens each had two points.

                Freshman Andrea Bair tallied a game-high 10 points to pace the host Braves. Freshman Peyton Brock and sophomore Aryeana VonDielingen each had four points.

                Lowe sank two 3-pointers and Steinkoenig chipped in a pair of deuces in the first quarter as CN took a 15-2 lead. The visitors maintained a 13-point edge at intermission, then extended it a bit in the third quarter behind an Osbourne 3-pointer and 2-pointers from Nash, West, Lowe and Steinkoenig.

                Nash and Stevens each scored in the fourth quarter as the Bull Dogs closed out the decision.

                The Columbus North freshman team returns to action on Saturday (Dec. 22) as part of a home tripleheader against Terre Haute North. JV and freshman games begin at 1 p.m., and the varsity follows the JV at about 2:30 p.m.
