CN freshman volleyball goes 1-2 in Bloomington South Invitational

                BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Columbus North freshman volleyball team went 1-2 on Saturday (Aug. 19) in the season-opening Bloomington South Invitational.

                Host Bloomington South defeated the Bull Dogs 25-15, 25-24 in the opening round. CN rebounded to knock off Bloomington North 25-11, 25-16 in the second round. Brownstown Central beat the Bull Dogs 25-16, 25-17 in the last round.

                For the three matches, Madi Roop provided a team-best 19 kills plus eight aces and three block solos. Alexa McKinley contributed 12 kills, while Emma Derringer chipped in nine kills and 20 digs. Madison White had five kills and two block solos, while Addie Risley notched three kills.

                Ava McKinney dealt 22 assists, while Holly Linn had nine assists. Alyse Pardue posted 23 digs and five aces, and Kathryn Rayburn had six digs.

                Columbus North volleyball returns to action on Tuesday (Aug. 22) when it hosts Perry Meridian. JV and freshman matches begin at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows the JV about 7 p.m.
