Five Columbus North volleyball players have earned Academic All-State honors from the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association.
Seniors Janelle Peters and Karen Wildemann were selected first-team Academic All-State. Classmates Sarah Boldrey, Hayley McMahan and Hannah Vittorio were chosen honorable mention Academic All-State.
Peters, an outside hitter, recorded 158 kills with a .106 hitting percentage while adding 25 service aces, 25 blocks and 109 digs for the 20-14 Bull Dogs.
Wildemann, the team's setter, contributed 130 kills with a .343 hitting percentage plus a team-best 58 aces, 43 blocks, 263 digs and 796 assists.
Boldrey chipped in 93 digs and nine aces, while Vittorio notched 13 digs and five aces. McMahan, who had limited playing time because of injury, had two kills, one ace and five digs.
Nominees for ICGSA Academic All-State must have a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale. They also must have a score of 1110 or better on the math and verbal portions of the SAT or a 24 or better on the ACT.
