Wildemann chosen MVP of 2013 Columbus North volleyball

    Junior Karen Wildemann was chosen MVP of the Columbus North volleyball team at the squad's season-ending banquet on Monday (Nov. 4).
    Wildemann, a 5-8 setter, led the team with 650 assists while adding 96 kills, 234 digs, 46 aces and 20 blocks in leading the Bull Dogs to a 13-21 record and a runner-up finish in Class 4A Sectional 14.
    Junior Makinsey Summa was winner of the Bull Dog Award. The 5-10 Summa contributed a team-high 249 kills plus 83 digs, 23 aces and 53 blocks to the effort.
    Sophomore Avery Wendel was chosen the Most Improved Player at the varsity level.
    Other special awards went to sophomore Grace Sonderman, sophomore Chase Leslie, freshman Madelin Johnson, freshman Hannah Weaver, freshman Mackenzie Rooks and junior Autumn Kavelman.
    Sonderman was selected MVP of the junior varsity squad, while Leslie was the JV's most improved player. Johnson was chosen MVP of the freshman team, while Weaver was picked the most improved freshman.
    Rooks was presented the Casey Cooley Award, while Kavelman was the winner of the Jolie Crider Award.
    Wildemann and senior Devon Roese were recognized as team captains. They were joined by seven other varsity letterwinners -- juniors Hayley McMahan, Alexa Pelley, Janelle Peters, Makinsey Summa and Hannah Vittorio; sophomore Avery Wendel; and freshman Maliah Howard.
    Recognized as JV players were juniors Sarah Boldrey, Autumn Kavelman and Taylor Stamper; and sophomores Rachel Copeland, Anne Marie Kiel, Chase Leslie, Hannah McKinney, Emily Pollitt, Grace Sonderman, Shelby Stamper and Olivia Teague.
    Those recognized as freshman team players were Alisha Adams, Imani Guy, Madelin Johnson, Meredith Kirts, Jasmyn Price, Mallory Renner, Karli Reynolds, Mackenzie Rooks, Kennedy Staggs and Hannah Weaver.
