SHELBYVILLE, Ind. -- Claire Taylor knocked down 11 kills with a .610 hitting efficiency to lead the Bloomington North volleyball team over Columbus North 3-0 on Thursday evening (Oct. 22) in a first-round sectional match at Shelbyville.
Senior Avery Wendel notched seven kills and 11 digs to pace the Bull Dogs, who completed their season with a 10-22 record as the Cougars claimed a 25-15, 25-13, 25-15 decision. Junior Maliah Howard-Bass chipped in seven kills, while senior Hannah McKinney tallied 12 assists, six digs and one service ace. Junior Mackenzie Rooks also had six digs, while junior Hannah Weaver notched two blocks.
Julia Wood produced 16 digs for Bloomington North (21-10), which qualified for an 11 a.m. semifinal match Saturday (Oct. 24) against Class 4A No. 10 Columbus East (23-7). The Olympians defeated Bloomington South 25-18, 25-23, 25-15 in the other first-round match. The Panthers finished 19-10.
Host Shelbyville (13-13) will face East Central (21-11) in the other semifinal. The championship match will be at 7 p.m. Saturday.
