Bloomington South tops Columbus North 3-0 in volleyball

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Junior Agustina Fainguersch tallied seven kills and 30 digs Tuesday evening (Oct. 3), but it was not enough as Columbus North volleyball dropped a 3-0 decision to Bloomington South in Memorial Gym.

Junior Maddy Sebahar notched a team-best 31 digs, but the Panthers nevertheless took a 25-10, 25-15, 25-22 decision to spoil the Bull Dogs’ Senior Night.

CN seniors Katie McAninch, Hannah Worton and Sidney Roese were recognized in a pregame ceremony.

McAninch added five kills and one service ace, while sophomore Gabby Genth posted three kills.

Junior Lily Meyercord produced 10 assists, and junior Sophie McKinney had one ace as the Bull Dogs fell to 13-13 overall and 3-2 in Conference Indiana.

Bloomington South moved 18-9 overall and completed CI play at 5-2.

The result, combined with Southport’s 3-2 upset at Bloomington North, created a logjam at the top in the league standings. Bloomington North and Bloomington South are tied with 5-2 final records. Terre Haute North is 4-2 with one match against Columbus North on Saturday (Oct. 7). Columbus North is 3-2 with two matches on Saturday – one at Terre Haute North and a second against Terre Haute South.
