INDIANAPOLIS – Host Franklin Central posted a 3-1 victory on Tuesday (Sept. 17) over Columbus North in high school volleyball.
The Flashes improved to 9-7 with the 26-24, 25-14, 22-25, 25-15 triumph.
Senior Emma Tynan pounded down nine kills while sophomore Sarah Bennett tallied nine kills and junior Madi Roop had six kills to pace the Bull Dogs, who fell to 4-7 for the season. Junior Madison White provided seven blocks, while Bennett chipped in three blocks and sophomore Raegan Kane dealt 29 assists.
Senior Jalynn Reardon contributed 14 digs and one service ace. Roop, Kane and senior Carley Finke each chipped in nine digs.
At the JV level, the Bull Dogs rallied for a 15-25, 25-21, 16-14 decision. Sophomore Sydney Donica and freshman Logan Branstetter each tallied five kills, while freshman Grace Barkes had three kills for CN (4-6). Freshman Emma Burns provided seven assists and one aces, while sophomore Emma Martin had six assists and sophomore Grace Chapman netted one ace. Chapman also notched nine digs, while freshman Elizabeth Rayburn netted four digs and freshman Rylie Boezeman had three digs.
Columbus North returns to action in a pair of tournaments on Saturday (Sept. 21).
The varsity competes in the Ultra Ankle Challenge in New Albany, facing Castle at 10 a.m., Floyd Central at 11 a.m., Silver Creek at 1 p.m. and one of four teams – New Albany, Jeffersonville, Brownstown Central or Jasper – later in the day.
The JV takes part in the Roncalli Invitational. It will play against Roncalli at 9 a.m., Brownstown Central at 10 a.m. and Seymour at 11 a.m.
