Columbus North volleyball blanks Bedford North Lawrence 3-0

                COLUMBUS, Ind. – Senior Emma Tynan tallied four kills and five digs on Tuesday evening (Oct. 1), leading the Columbus North volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Bedford North Lawrence in Memorial Gym.

                Sophomore Sarah Bennett and junior Madison White each added three kills as the Bull Dogs improved to 7-12 with the 25-8, 25-12, 25-15 decision while observing their Senior Night.

                Senior Lauren Opalka, who has missed much of the season with a knee injury, pin-pointed six service aces in her first appearance since Aug. 27. Bennett chipped in three aces, while senior Jalynn Reardon and sophomore Sydney Cooper each had two aces.

                Sophomore Raegan Kane provided 15 assists, while senior Kate Whaley netted five assists and six digs.

                White chipped in three blocks, while senior Gabby Genth had two blocks.

                Reardon produced 10 digs, while Cooper tallied nine digs.

                The visiting Stars fell to 2-18.

                Tynan, Opalka, Reardon, Whaley, Genth and classmate Carley Finke all were recognized in a ceremony between the JV and varsity matches.

                At the JV level, junior Addie Risley and sophomore Sydney Donica each tallied five kills to lead Columbus North to a 25-13, 25-24 victory. Sophomore Grace Chapman provided two aces and five digs as CN improved to 5-9. Sophomore Emma Martin provided five assists, while freshman Emma Burns had two assists and four digs.

                Columbus North returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 3) when it visits Columbus East. The JV match begins at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows at about 7:15 p.m.
