Columbus East tops Columbus North 3-1 in volleyball

                COLUMBUS, Ind. – Senior Rilee Jessie pounded down 19 kills and sophomore Katy Jordan added six kills on Thursday evening (Oct. 3), leading the Columbus East volleyball team to a 3-1 triumph over Columbus North in the Orange Pit.

                Freshman Gabby Dean totaled five blocks while senior Mady Foster tallied 15 assists as the Olympians improved to 12-7 with the 25-17, 25-16, 16-25, 25-14 victory. Senior Allison Mack provided 24 digs and freshman Kenzie Foster had two service aces for the winners.

                Sophomore Sarah Bennett produced eight kills and nine blocks to pace the Bull Dogs, who dropped to 7-13. Senior Emma Tynan also notched eight kills, while senior Gabby Genth, junior Madi Roop and junior Madison White each provided six kills and five blocks.

                Sophomore Reagan Kane totaled 10 digs, three aces and 30 assists. Sophomore Sydney Cooper tallied 17 digs and senior Kate Whaley had 15 digs.

                At the JV level, East claimed a 25-8, 25-6 decision. Freshman Grace Barkes notched two kills and classmate Elizabeth Rayburn had seven digs for the Bull Dogs (5-10).

                Columbus North returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 8) when it hosts Bloomington South in a Conference Indiana encounter. The JV match starts at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows at about 7:15 p.m.
