Columbus North JV and freshman baseball teams each split a doubleheader

            COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus North JV and freshman baseball teams each split a doubleheader Saturday (May 7) at the Southside Elementary School diamonds.

            The Bull Dogs’ JV defeated Bloomington North 5-2 in its first game. The Cougars rebounded to win the second game 7-3. Sophomore Nick Stevens and freshman Hayate Takauchi each had two hits in the first game as Takauchi pitched a complete game. In the second game, junior Jeremias Dela Cruz doubled and singled, sophomore Bryce Lollar doubled and sophomore Cameron Barrix had two singles.

            Bloomington South defeated the CN freshman team 10-0 in its opener. However, the Bull Dog rookies came back to take a 7-3 decision in the second game.

            The Columbus North varsity (12-5) returns to action at 6 p.m. Wednesday (May 11) when it hosts Bloomington South. The Bull Dogs’ JV (5-5) also hosts Bloomington South at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

            The CN freshman team (2-6) is back in action at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (May 12) at Shelbyville.
