SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Columbus North recent graduate Tyler Finke scored a run Saturday (July 21) for the South team in the Indiana North-South All-Star baseball series at Four Winds Field.
Finke’s came around as a pinch runner as the North prevailed 8-4 in a rain-shortened first game in the three-game series at the home of the South Bend Cubs.
Finke was unable to return on Sunday (July 22), when a revised schedule saw the South take an 8-4 victory and the North post an 8-0 shutout to complete the weekend with two seven-inning games.
Carroll (Fort Wayne) graduate Hayden Jones was named event MVP, going 5-for-7 with five RBIs in the event staged by the Indiana Baseball Coaches Association. Jones, a catcher and grandson of former DeKalb coach Bill Jones, is headed to play at Mississippi State.
Columbus East graduate Drew Hasson and Hauser graduate Sam Meek also played for the South in the series.
The 2019 series is to be played in Madison.
