Columbus North junior Bryce Turner was honored as MVP of the Bull Dogs’ 2016 boys’ golf team at the season-ending gathering on Thursday (June 16).
Turner averaged 77.64 strokes in 14 18-hole rounds for a team that advanced to the Providence Regional, where it finished in ninth place. Turner’s best round was a 71 in the Greensburg Sectional. He also averaged 39.14 strokes in seven nine-hole rounds.
Another receiving a special accolade was senior Jared Imlay, who was presented the team’s Bull Dog Award. Imlay averaged 84.69 strokes for 13 18-hole rounds with a best of 77. He also had a 40.88 average in nine nine-hole rounds.
Five CN athletes received recognition from Conference Indiana. Turner, Imlay, junior Spencer Fairbanks and freshman Drew Smith were first-team all-conference. Junior Matt Vorndran was honorable mention all-conference.
Imlay and Turner were honored as team captains. They were joined as varsity lettermen by juniors Spencer Fairbanks, Zachary Schiavello and Matt Vorndran; and freshmen Henry Kiel, Drew Smith and Jonathan Ward.
JV awards went to juniors Joseph Suverkrup and Jackson Swain; sophomores Jake Hill and Alex Rivera; and freshmen Mark Allamanno, Jackson Kerber, Reese Moore, Conner Williams and Cameron Ziegler.
