WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A boys’ golf group with three Columbus North players, one Columbus East player and one Greenwood player tied for 15th place in the IGA Boys Team State Championship that was played Wednesday and Thursday (June 10-11) at Purdue University’s Ackerman-Allen Golf Course.
Together, the Harrison Lakers shot a 333-332–665 over the two days at Purdue University’s Ackerman-Allen Golf Course.
Columbus North rising junior Luke Schneider shot an 80-81 – 161 for the event. Columbus East rising senior Kody Reynolds added an 81-82 – 163, while Greenwood rising junior Jackson Watkins provided an 84-80 – 164. Columbus North rising sophomore Willy Davis chipped in a 88-89 – 177, and Columbus North rising sophomore Jack Schiavello rounded out the lineup with a 93-96 – 189.
Center Grove Legacy ended up winning the championship of the state event organized by the Indiana Golf Association with a 618. A Carmel group called Straight Off The Coach placed second at 619, and a Valparaiso Vikings group finished third at 631.
The Harrison Lakers reached the finals event after winning a one-round regional with a 314 at The Legends Golf Club in Franklin. They Lakers’ total in the regional was one stroke better than Center Grove Legacy, the eventual event champion.
