October 14, 2021 - There are about twelve minutes of the Regional Semifinal matchup that the Bull Dogs would like to have back. In those twelve minutes, starting just before and ending soon after half time, the Bloomington South Panthers (19-0-1) put four goals on the board. These were more than enough to end Columbus North’s season (15-2-2) and advance to the Regional Finals. The 4-0 defeat prevented the Bull Dogs from adding a Regional title to their list of season accomplishments which include a top-10 ranking, a share of the Conference Indiana title, and a Sectional title.
The Panthers broke a scoreless tie 32 minutes in with a score from the right side. They quickly added two more before half time, both on corner kicks. The Bull Dogs were able to overcome deficits in each of their last two Sectional victories (over Center Grove and Columbus East), but a 3-0 halftime deficit was more than the Dogs could overcome. South punched in one more goal four minutes into the second half and the Dogs’ season came to a close with the 4-0 defeat.
The Bull Dogs will lose ten seniors to graduation this off-season, but head coach David Young is excited about the young talent that is on its way for the Bull Dogs. Congratulations to the Bull Dogs girls soccer team on an excellent season.
