COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Senior Deo Moore scored in the 66th minute Tuesday evening (Sept. 22), leading the Class 2A No. 9 Bloomington South boys soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Columbus North at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.
The Panthers stayed unbeaten with the decision, moving to 11-0-1 for the season. The Bull Dogs dropped to 5-4-3.
Moore's goal, his 11th of the season, came a shot from about 40 yards out. It was an unassisted goal.
Senior Ty Bentham made two saves while holding Bloomington South scoreless over the first 40 minutes. Senior Preston Grimes played the second half and made three saves but allowed the one goal.
Senior Ryan Yohn posted his seventh shutout of the season for the Panthers.
At the JV level, the teams played to a 2-2 draw. Junior Jeremias Dela Cruz and freshman Ben Mendoza scored for the Bull Dogs. Junior Sam LaVelle assisted on Dela Cruz's goal.
Columbus North returns to action about 3 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 26) against Bloomington North in the semifinal of the Conference Indiana Tournament at Karst Park in Bloomington. CN will face either Bloomington South or Perry Meridian about 7 p.m. Saturday in either the third-place or championship game.
